Note to self:
Art is not made by somebody, it is made by nobody. People don’t create art to become artists. People create art because that is what humans do. Wonderful art is not about creating a castle of identity for yourself that other people can admire in awe. It is about an innocent curiosity, an ancient inclination to make something out of nothing. It is wondering what happens if you do that? What if you put that there? What if you used the brush like that? What if you told that story differently? What would happen? It is first and foremost an experiment, a desire to be an active participant in the world. To respond to it with your hands. To see what you can get away with.
I created this collage last week. It came straight from my subconscious. After it was created I imbued it with meaning. It is a map I keep returning to.
